WELCOME
My name is Deborah Thoennes, LPC, owner and operator of Rays of Renew Counseling.
Everyone has a story to tell. My goal is to provide understanding, hope, and healing; allowing Restoration of your Body and Spirit, so that you can live your life with peace and joy.

The mission of Rays of Renew Counseling is to provide superior, confidential, and
individualized mental health counseling services to those in Wisconsin.
About your therapist
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have over 18 years of experience providing service to a diverse population. I am compassionate, empathetic, energetic, creative, enthusiastic, professional, dependable, and engaging. I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, and went on to earn a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. I have worked as a Professional Counselor in different settings. I have been the Clinical Mental Health Coordinator and therapist in a day treatment setting, a crisis counselor in a jail setting, an out-patient therapist, a counselor in a residential setting, and worked many years at a half-way house providing adults with counseling services both in individual and group settings.

THERAPY APPROACH
I utilize a client-centered approach to build on the client’s strengths and to help identify and implement skills to effectively manage symptoms. I also utilize evidenced-based practices including: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psycho-education, Mindfulness, Play, Family Systems, Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Client-centered.
CONCENTRATION
I have demonstrated working successfully with clients suffering from a wide array of mental health disorders, ranging from: Neurodevelopmental problems (Autism and ADHD), Psychotic disorders, Adjustment disorders, Loss/Grief, Abuse, Bi-polar, Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive compulsive, Disruptive, Impulse-control and Conduct disorders, Personality disorders, PTSD, and problems surrounding familial sources of stress.
SERVICES
Rays of Renew Counseling provides therapy to children as young as 3 years-old, preteens, teens, and adults, in individual and family settings
Christian based Counseling available to those who desire to integrate a faith based approach. “'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. '” — Jeremiah 29:11.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
Ray of Renew Counseling accepts most forms of insurance, including Medicaid, accepts private pay, and offers a self-pay sliding fee scale. No one is ever turned away due to lack of finances.
If you will be using your insurance plan, please bring your insurance card to your first appointment. I ask that co-pays or payments toward your deductible be made at the time of service.
